NAAFC Luncheon & Ceilidh 2013
by
The NAAFC held its AGM and Luncheon in the plush comfort of The Huntingtower Hotel in Perth on Sunday 30th June.
Around 140 members and friends joined in congratulating the winners of the annual BAFFI Awards and also welcomed three new recipients to our long list of honoured guests.
After a delicious lunch, our Chairman, Nicol McLaren got proceedings under-way with the presentation of the annual BAFFI Awards. This year’s recipients were
Club Supporter of the Year - Brian Forrest
CD of the Year – Shetland A&F Club
Guest Artist of the Year – Brandon McPhee
Club of the Year – Banchory
A special award was received by Peter Leask from Shetland A&F Club in recognition of his major contribution to his Club and in particular the organisation of the Shetland Festival which has recently achieved its 25th Anniversary.
Our honoured guests were Norrie and Sheila Williams and Derek Hamilton, all of whom have participated and contributed greatly over many years on our music scene. The three recipients were delighted to receive their awards and Norrie spoke of his enthusiasm and delight that there were so many great ‘youngsters’ keeping the Club scene alive. Derek, in a record breaking speech, alluded to the many great musical influences in his life, many of whom were present at the luncheon.
With Nicol’s duties over for the day, Alex Hodgson entertained us with mirth and song and compered the fabulous musical entertainment for the rest of the afternoon. Judging by the level of applause, the highlight for many will have been a slow air from Marie Fielding with the most beautiful accompaniment from Pam Wilkie.
The next AGM will be held in The Huntingtower Hotel on Sunday 29th June 2014.
