Editorial
It’s hard to believe that it’s almost Christmas already. I’ve decided this year to send no cards, instead I’ll be giving a cheque for £100 to Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Sanctuary, a charity that I support. I received lots of beautiful cards last year and sent out lots too, and then I realised that most of them would be in the bin by early January. So I kept the cards I received, and they’ll be going up again this year and every year from here on in! So please, if you were thinking of sending me a card this year, just pop 20p in a charity collecting can instead – I’d far rather the money went to a deserving cause.
I had a real problem squeezing things into the B&F this month. I’ve had to hold over eight articles to the January issue. I try hard not to cut any Club reports that come in, I feel that if you go to the trouble of writing them then the least we can do is print them. However some reports mention every combination of players, where they come from, and every tune they play! Would it be possible to condense this information so that nobody’s left out but we still have an interesting and informative report?
Huge thanks go to the B&F team for all their help throughout the year. Heather McLean has been hard at work, not only with secretarial duties, but also visiting and reporting on events. We’d be lost without the proof reading skills of Alison Riddell, and thanks too to Alisdair Graham for the Dance diary and Judith Linton for the Reviews. Regular contributions from Margo MacLennan and Jean Lumsden are also much appreciated. Nicol and Charlie, as ever, have been hugely supportive. (And by the way, the next time you’re about to comment about how often Nicol’s mugshot appears in the B&F, just stop and think how much work he’s actually doing as Chairman, he attends every event he possibly can and is a great ambassador for the A&F Club scene).
And so to our printers – Bruce, Ian and Derek, you’re brilliant! Thank you for putting up with the panics every issue and producing such a high quality magazine.
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
