Year 6 No 3 November 1982
At the November meeting of Islesteps A&F Club held at the Cargenholm Hotel, Dumfries, the Currie Brothers from Milngavie were welcomed by over 200 enthusiasts. The trio entertained the audience with a varied selection of music on a variety of instruments – surely one of the most versatile trios in the business.
Once again the Club was well supported by local artistes ; on accordion, compere Tony Dalton, Jimmy Edwards, Marcel Rivard, Janice and Linda Gray, Brian Griffin, Walter Beattie, Walter McMillan, William Murray and newcomer Ian Rankin ; and the junior section represented by Steven Cook and Ian Kirk.
On keyboard Andrew Stevenson and Ian Holmes.
On drums Jackie Bonnar and Stevie Beattie.
We also had Hugh Hanlon on mouth organ and William Little on tin whistle.
We were pleased to welcome from Peebles Club, their compere John Laidlaw and his accordion. Hope you enjoyed you visit John.
Next meeting of the Club will be on Tuesday, 7th December, when the guests will be George Stirrat and Jimmy Yeaman.
