Year 12 No 3 - December 1988
On the 21st of November, which was our AGM, it was announced we had joined the N.A.A.F.C. After 4 years the Club is still going strong and we thought it was now time to join.
Our meeting are on the last Sunday of every month and are held in the Plough Inn, Forfar.
Our November meeting took place on the 27th of November, with the ever popular Simon Howie and his Band. The crowd was down a little, but perhaps Stephen Hendry was to blame for that – Snooker, like accordion and fiddle music, can ‘get a hold of you’, too. In spite of that, Simon gave us a super night’s entertainment, enjoyed by everyone.
Compere for the evening, was the Chairman Dave Mearns with supporting musicians :- on accordion Andrew Peebles, Bruce Quirie, Jim Thom, John Mearns, Bruce Peebles, David Cunningham.
On fiddle – Angela Smith was the only one and a pleasure to listen to. Pianists – Derek Hendry and Jeanette Murray. Drummers – Dave Bell and Ian Adamson. Last of all, our Treasurer played a few fine tunes on his ‘moothie’.
Our next Club meeting will be earlier than the usual due to the Festive season and it is on the 18th of December. Our guests will be Colin Dewar and his Band and in January, George Carmichael and his Band.
Sandra Peebles (Secretary)
