McLellan, Captain D.R.
A half-brother to G.S. McLellan he joined the Scots Guards as a piper in 1919 and transferred to the Seaforth Highlanders as Depot P/M in 1924 and then P/M of the 1st Bn from 1925 till 1938. He received his Commission during WW2. He won his first open competition in 1920 and, after continual success, he achieved the double of winning the Gold Medal for pibroch at both Oban and Inverness in 1956. His son Brigadier D.R. McLennan and grandson followed him into the Regiment.
