Editorial
We would like to thank Newtongrange Club in advance. They are running a dance in aid of funds for the Box and fiddle newspaper, your newspaper. It is a very nice gesture and we appreciate it very much. It takes place at the Dean Tavern on 6th April, the band in attendance being Jimmy and Joan Blue, Ian Powrie and Jack Cooper.
Musselburgh Festival is almost upon us once again. To be exact, Saturday, 2nd March. That’s where it will all be happening.
The Mull Festival, I understand, is on the last weekend of April.
See you at Musselburgh.

The seventh Edinburgh folk Festival will take place…………
N.A.O. Festival - Glasgow
by Ian Smith
Govan Town Hall on Festival Day is a day to satiate yourself with accordion music. This year the N.A.O. West Scotland Area Festival took place on Saturday, 22nd February.
With around 300 competitors to get through it was certainly a busy day for the adjudicators, these being Mr and Mrs Beecham (Colchester), Ron Hodgson (Carlisle), Ken Green (Carlisle), David Keen (Slough) Archie Duncan and Rikki Franci (Glasgow).
But I would reckon the busiest people were the ladies of the refreshment counter – the Bettys, Marys and Jeans were at it on the double all day. They said it was good training for the Glasgow Marathon!
This was the 6th Festival and under the leadership of Mrs Lola Blair everything went so smoothly.
The Senior Scottish title was won by Roy Hendrie. Haven’t we heard that name before?
Young Scott Sneddon had a successful day, winning the under 12 Scottish, under 14 Scottish and the Entertainer Group. Roll on Musselburgh.
