Year 3 No 1 - September 1979
The guest artiste for New Cumnock’s March meeting was John Loch and his Blackthorn Band. John is one of the best entertainers in the business and everybody enjoyed both him and the Band. We also had a good turnout of players from other Clubs as well. All keen to help to get us going. Thanks, folks.
At our April meeting the guest was David Scott. We had him billed as the new Will Starr and Dave didn’t let us down. He is a fantastic button-box player.
On our last meeting of season 1978-79 we had Ronnie Easton. Ronnie is so well known now, what with making music with his band on radio and making LPs, that he needs no introduction. He left an impression that will be hard to erase.
Many thanks to the following players who gave us their time and music – Rab Simpson, John Watson, Rab Shaw, Evelyn Simpson, Stuart Thomson, Audrey Sturgeon and Graham Bell (fiddle). Jimmy Cunningham, Bobby Torrance, David Ross, Jimmy Thomson and Bert Dalziel.
We re-opened season 1979-80 on 4th September when we had a gala night.
