Year 1 No 5 - February 1978
Buchan A&F Club’s first meeting of the year, held on the 11th January in the Buchanness Hotel, started off on a disappointing note when our compere J. Noble announced that our guest artiste for the evening, Tommy Ford, was unable to be with us due to weather conditions. But every cloud has a silver lining and Stuart Anderson, at very short notice, gladly stepped in to fill the breach.
The usual regular artistes from the floor included – on the accordion J. Cowie, R. Cowie, K. Cheyne, A, Durno, K. Wallace,
Fiddle – J. Mathers, A. Phillips, J. Alexander, A. Murray, I Wallace.
Drums – A. Cheyne
Piano – J. Alexander, Mrs J. Phillips and A. Cheyne.
Bagpipes – Graham Buchan
Songs by W. McRae and M. McRae.
A welcome was given to one of the Keith members, D. Davidson, Scottish Champion Melodeon Player, who gave us a few selections much to the enjoyment of the audience.

Once again a technical hitch at Boddam. This time, no power (a hydro fault.) But this did not deter the regulars who played on with great gusto until the Buchanness proprietor, Mr W. Mathers, got his stand-by generator going.
Our regular artistes were – accordion J. Cowie, R. Cowie, A. Durno, K. Cheyne, A. Morrison and K. Wallace.
Fiddle – J. Alexander, J. Mathers, A. Phillips and A. Murray.
Drums – A. Cheyne
Bagpipes – Graham Buchan
Piano – J. Alexander and Mrs M. Scott
Songs – W. McRae
Welcome back to two of our young accordion players, Graham Stewart and Billy Buchan, from Peterhead.
Our guest artistes for the evening were ‘The Thistle Trio’, who played with their usual meticulous style. Not a good night to venture so far from home, but a very appreciative audience enjoyed every minute of it.
