Year 26 No 6 – February 2002
MC Jimmy Thorburn began our first meeting of 2002 in The West Barnes Inn by wishing everyone a Happy New Year, and the night got under with our local talent out in good numbers as always. These being : on accordion Davie Patrick, Robin Hamilton (also keyboard), Ian Mouat, Adam Young (also drums), Margaret Kemp, Jock Cessford, Derek Edmonds, Ronnie Johnston and Alistair Laing. On drums were George McLeod, Tom Rankine and Alex Harvey. On keyboard Joanne Cockburn, Jim Nicol and Isobelle Hodgson. On fiddle Andrew Knight and on concertina David Corner.
Our guests for the January meeting were The Burns Brothers – George and John and accordion, with Andrew Morton on drums. The audience clearly enjoyed the talents of the band, who displayed some terrific arrangements with some Scottish, Irish and Continental selections.
Thanks to the boys for a great night’s entertainment and we hope they will return in the not too distant future. Thanks also to the local players for their part in the evening.
The next meeting is on the 14th of February, when we welcome Gordon Pattullo to the Club, and also welcome any other musicians and listeners alike.
