Bryson, Willie
Willie was a bagpipe maker with MacPherson’s in West Maitland Street, Edinburgh and it is likely that he also worked with William Sinclair’s of Leith. Sinclair’s were tied in with MacPherson’s for a long time and made pipes for them which were sold as “MacPherson’s”. Strangely they never had the same reputation as “Sinclair’s” although they were the same pipes. MacPherson’s published the 3rd Book of the Edcath collection as a tribute to Willie who compiled it and it contains many of his tunes including what is probably his best, the 6/8 March “Jean Mauchline”. He probably served in either the Royal Scots or the K.O.S.Bs
