Year 17 No 2 - October 1993
After forming our Club on 27th March, 1993, we’ve had very successful monthly meetings in various venues on Islay.
Our first two we were entertained by local artistes, including a very successful Ceilidh Cruise on M.V. Claymore , then we had members of Campbeltown A&F Club – greatly enjoyed by a great audience in the White Hart Hotel, Port Ellen.
This was followed by a superb evening in the Ballygrant Inn when the guest spot was taken by the very talented Deirdre Adamson. All I can say is ‘Haste ye back’.
In August we had the Neil Sinclair Sound on the guest spot. Another great performance, very ably assisted by local artistes, which included the Mansefield Band, Ella Edgar Dancers, Dugan Campbell (singer), Archie Currie and Donald MacKinnon (moothies, guitar, mandolin and Jews harp).
We also had the up-and-coming young talent on Islay in the name of Alison MacArthur (keyboard), Francesca Hart (accordion) and Robert Shaw (accordion).
A surprise artiste, all the way from the Oban Club was Dave Millward, accordion and songs – nice to see you Dave, drop in anytime.
All in all, we are very pleased with the success of the Club so far.
