Year 4 No 7 - March 1981
The inaugural meeting of Denny and Dunipace A&F Club took place in the beautiful new function hall of the Dunipace Juniors Social Club on Thursday, 19th February. There was a good turn-out of members and friends to hear our first guest artiste – The Lothian Band – who were in great form. With local lad Alex McPhee on the fiddle, the band gave a thoroughly professional performance in both halves of the programme, playing some super selections in the process.
The evening started off with the Burgess Trio from Fankerton, with son Andrew on accordion, daughter Christine on piano and dad Jim on fiddle. They were followed on accordion by John Geddes , accompanied by Alan Ross, Ena Wilson, Tommy Johnston on drums and Jim McLaren, the ‘King of the Bones’, also from Fankerton.
Some fine playing also followed from Alex McColl, Chic Kirkwood from the Dunblane Club, and veteran Andrew Sneddon. Both Chic and Andrew performed on the button key accordion much to the delight of the audience and in addition there was some fine singing from Rab Burden from Denny.
The next meeting of the Club will be held in the same venue on Thursday, 19th March, when the guest artiste will be Walter Perrie.
