Year 6 No 3 November 1982
The inaugural meeting of Morecambe A&F Club took place in yorkshire House, Lancaster, on Friday, 17th September (1982).
The guest artiste was the well-known Uilleann piper, Pat McNulty from Glasgow, who delighted the audience with slow airs, jigs, reels and hornpipes played with dreat dexterity on his beautiful instrument. His workshop on the history, development and playing of the Uilleann pipes was enjoyed by all.
The Jim Maguire Country Band played Scottish and Irish selections and supplied the accompaniment for pupils of the Tara School of Dancing who gave a wonderful display of Irish Step Dancing under the direction of their teacher Miss Jacqueline Harkin.
The artistes were well supported by local musicians including Renwick MacArthur, originally from Lockerbie, playing traditional fiddle, Gerry Lennon on button key box, Paul Duffy playing Scottish and Irish airs on the Irish harp and Alistair Spowart, originally from Crail, playing and accompanying the singers on his piano accordion.
