Year 12 No 5 - February 1989
Our November meeting was held in the usual venue, Coalburn Miners Welfare and we had an excellent turnout.
The evening began with our own ‘Golden Oldies’ comprising Jim Brodie, Charlie Thomson, Bob Logan and Tom Forsyth. Next was Adam Reid on button box, Ian McCormack on piano box, Anne Robertson and John Houston (fiddlers), Ron Copland and John Russell (button boxes).
Next we had our guests, The Donaldson Brothers, who had quite a journey to get to us. Colin traveled from Inverness and Gary from Glenrothes.
During the interval we had tea and pies and then on to the second half which began with Davir Coke (piano box), Hugh Gebbie (piano box), Bob Berry (button ox), Agnes Hope (piano box), Bob Logan and Tom Forsyth (button box and fiddle), Charlie Todd (piano box), John Anderson (piano box), George Walker who is our pianist and Jim Small (drums).
The Donaldson Brothers carried on for the rest of the evening and kept the feet tapping – it was great entertainment. Thanks, boys!
The Club organised a concert on Saturday, 26th of November, with ‘The Golden Oldies’ and ‘The Tartan Echoes’ from Stonehouse, and a few singers. They made over £200, which went to the Gala Day Funds.
