Glenrothes and District A&F Club had its first meeting on Tuesday, 27th April in the Victoria Hall, Coaltown of Balgownie, organized by C. S. Isles and was a great success.
Musicians and enthusiasts turned up to make it a great opening night and the guest artistes were Fiddle Style who gave a varied and polished performance, also a slow air composed by Bill Cook and played beautifully for the first time in public in memory of a great friend and fiddler Bobby Crease who died last year. Thanks to all who made this a night to remember.
We also had a great night on our second meeting with guest artistes the Windygates Button Key A&F Club on 25th May, with Bruce Lindsay Snr and Jnr on accordions, also the brothers Jim and John Crawford, Jim Douglas, Willie Stewart, Norman Isles, Jim Bamford, Andrew Leddell, Andrew Duncan on accordions.
Sandy Smart (melodeon), Bob Fleming and Bob McIntosh on fiddles, J. Taylor (drums), Willie Rintoul (mouth organ), Margo Cook and Marshall McIntyre singers, and Chic Isles on Transivox accordion.
On Tuesday, 29th June we had our third meeting with a Club Night and Ceilidh with Chic Isles and friends. The highlight of the evening was the Carlyle Family Band from Livingston with Kenny on drums, Kirstyn on keyboard, Wilma on mandolin and Matthew on accordion, also Jeff Ward and Norman Isles on accordions.
Willie Rintoul played the mouth organ and Sandy Smart the melodeon.
Grace McLean, Marshall McIntyre and Dave Allan (singers), Josh Taylor, Bob Goodwin and Jim Rodgers on drums.
The music for dancing was by Chic Isles on Transivox, Norman Isles on accordion, with assistance from the drummers.
Thanks to the tea ladies, Joan, Ina and Lena ; the doorman and assistant Ron Braid and the compere Andrew Nairn.
