Year 33 No 10 - June 2009
Coldingham A&F Club first opened its door last November and it has been slowly picking up since. May Day say a fantastic evening at the Club. The village hall was full of listeners and musicians, along with the excellent Neil Hardie Band.
We had a wide variety of supporting musicians, namely :
On the keyboard Ewan Galloway, Jim Nichol (many thanks for helping out) and Scott Turnbull.
Accordion – Gordon Clark, Bill Cowe, Ronnie Patterson, Bruce Thompson, Ewan Galloway, Jennifer Cowie, Brian Forrest – again thanks for helping – and Bill and Elaine Crookston.
Fiddle – Cheryl Foreman
Tin whistle – Pat Turnbull
Drums – Tam Rankin, Alex McLaren and Tom Riddell.
MC John helped keep the evening ticking over nicely. Neil’s band, as usual, gave a brilliant and varied show with Caroline performing a fantastic fiddle solo with Jim on the keyboard.
The Anchor Inn supplied us with a lovely supper of stovies.
All too soon the evening came to an end with the stramash lasting ten minutes – the crowds cheering for more every time the music stopped. Thanks Neil, you and your band did us proud.
Our next night is June 1st at 7.30pm with the Ewan Galloway Band. In July the Lomond Ceilidh Band are coming to entertain us. Hope to see you there.
