MacLellan, Captain John A. M.B.E.
Born in Dunfermline but brought up as a boy in the Glen Morrison and Fort Augustus district. He joined the 1st Battalion the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders as a boy piper in 1936. At the age of 19 he was appointed as P/M to the 9th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders. After the war he attended the P/Ms course at the Army School of Piping under Willie Ross and was awarded a “Distinguished” Certificate. In 1959 he was chosen to succeed Willie in that post which he held until 1968. He was made an M.B.E. in 1963.
